SPGS becomes a joint-stock corporation with a share capital of one thousand contos de réis (the Brazilian currency of the time) split equally into one thousand shares of one conto. The school is now administered by a board whose members are appointed by Amcham, the American Association of São Paulo, and the American Ladies’ Society.
