Maurice V. Powell, affectionately known by Graded students as “Tio” (Uncle) Powell, becomes the first chairman of the Board, appointed by Amcham and American companies in Brazil. He is very involved in the daily life of the students, and he leads a fundraising campaign for the construction of a new building for São Paulo Graded School.
